Friendship the Old Fashioned Way - How to Develop Deeply Satisfying Relationships
As technology continues to advance, we are learning to perform multiple tasks in shorter time intervals. We can write several advertising campaigns, a few more feature articles, and negotiate multiple contracts with partners from five different continents before lunch time. Subsequently, with all the newfangled gadgets being invented at breakneck speed, there is a tendency to handle everything in three second sound bites. However, there is still some things that need to be developed over time in order to be truly rewarding. One of those things is friendship. This article briefly discusses how to make deeply satisfying relationships the old fashioned way.
These days it is in vogue to use technology to develop everything including friendship. One of the most common ways is to shoot text messages back and forth. There is nothing wrong with this, but it should not replace good old fashioned face to face contact. In order to bring a friendship to full maturity, two souls have to be wedded together in harmony. This type of deep connection rarely happens through text messaging, instant messenger, or email.
You have to spend real time together, talking through stuff, looking into your friend's eyes and watching their body language. When two people do this over time they become familiar with each other's mannerisms and quirks. They know when the other is kidding around and when they are serious. Email can be easily misunderstood and misinterpreted, but face to face contact is generally raw and transparent. To develop deeply satisfying friendships, you need to clear consistent time in the calendar and get together for lunch or tea. This may be a bit old fashioned but it works and it is worth it.
